So stunning with the intricate molding, fireplace and shimmering chandelier paired with more comfortable and relaxed furnishings. These chairs are the Marlena Chairs from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. Aren't they perfect?

And we have them in our store now in a lovely gray linen, and they sit oh-so comfortably. A perfect pair for any sitting area!

Show n' Tell - Nemrow Kitchen

Just when I think I've nailed down my style, a client comes along that inspires a new branch to my design tree.

The Nemrow's are a young family with three sugar-coated lil' girls living in a contemporary home in Pleasant Grove, and they sprouted this new style seed. In an attempt to make this home their own, they have remodeled and added areas but were stumped when they got to the unfunctional galley of a kitchen. They have a very edited yet animated aesthetic but translating that to hard surfaces in a kitchen can be trickier than to a living room or bedroom. when the Nemrow's gave us free reign to shimmy walls and eject windows, Jess and I were elated when we began to think of the possibilities! By rotating the kitchen and allowing the eye to rest on one great focal wall, the universe was good again and a functional kitchen was born!

There is something so liberating about open shelving! it allows you to display the things you use and love everyday and forces you to edit! (I'm doing this in my own kitchen and am beyond excited to live a little more like Anjerie!)

That tile! Oh that tile!! What can I say but that tile is EVERYTHING! By taking it all the way to the ceiling, we pronounce that we just can't get enough that tile!

This fish from Natural Curiosities is a good time! not only is the scale insane in the membrane, but he's got a full set of teeth and we adore him!

Inspiration in Unusual Places - Back to School

It's that time again... Back to school. Fall clothes are where it's at! Patterned tights, warm woolen sweaters, crisp clean button ups... Let yourself be inspired with youthful colors and textures when back-to-school shopping! Shades of pinks and purples. What better way to bring in color than with a beautiful accent chaise or some colorful Warhol prints!

Navy and white stripes mixed with moss green! Perfect for the first day of school or for a funky dining area!

Cerulean Blue was always my favorite crayon color! It adds pizazz to classic khakis and tee. Use it to paint a room for a dramatic effect or just a splash with a piece of art.

Salmon makes a bold statement. Mixed with dark colors makes it stand out even more!

Why not throw in a bit of blush pink to the mix of neutrals? Add a bit of sparkle to really make the room shine!

Mmm... what a unique shade of green. This subtly says "style maker".

This royal blue is a must to every wardrobe. Pairs perfectly with black and white. the artwork and rug give this room character.

The traditional navy, white and khaki. Classic and beautiful.

What is your back-to-school inspiration?

Clarke Residence - Master Bedroom

We began with a rug, the Congo rug to be exact. A luxurious touch you can't wait but sink your feet into every morning. From there we placed a sunburst mirror above the bed - a true marvel of elegance! We decided to use a desk as a bedside table instead of the traditional nightstand. Not only does this look smart but it functions for our client as he works all hours of the night. We nestled a charming side chair with his desk and wrapped it in a traditional, cozy print - making working late nights a little more enjoyable. Above his desk we placed four breathtaking crystals. Can you believe these are purely created by Mother Nature herself?! When the bedside lamps shine on this work of art, they just sing! Gorgeous!

At the foot of the bed, the homeowners requested a cabinet for a pop-up television. Great for viewing your favorite shows late at night - not the greatest piece to walk into every morning. To disguise this necessary element of the room, we placed a luxurious, comfortable, and uber-inviting sofa at the foot of this cabinet. What pop-up television? Opposite this sofa, we placed two of the most comfortable chairs you have ever lounged in! Just to be a little more ridiculous, we covered these chairs in rich mohair-like fabric. Yum! Between the chairs, we placed an ottoman which not only acts as a coffee table but a peaceful spot to read a book, kick-up your feet and unwind for the night. This Master Bedroom retreat creates a place for daydreams, night dreams, and all dreams between! Sweet dreams Mr. and Mrs. Clarke.

Private Residence - Front Porch

We were asked by a lovely couple that we had recently finished an office space for, to transform their covered front porch of their home. This was a meeting space not only for their own family but for their neighbors as well - so it needed to be functional, kid-friendly, and a great space for entertaining.

With the beautiful Craftsman style architecture of the home, we wanted the space to be eclectic, refined and to have that well-traveled feeling. A great indoor/outdoor rug and some fun, punchy fabrics for the pillows set the tone for the porch. We loved this foxy faux bois bench - constructed of steel and concrete which was a PLUS for the outdoors and the climate here in Utah! To make this space even more functional, we chose to use trunks as the cocktail table, to double as storage for quilts and blankets for those chilly evenings.  A little display shelf was tucked into the porch corner for pillows, plants and other entertaining necessities. With all of the main players in place, we added the patterned pillows and a colorful garden stool for the finishing touch!

What's in Store - Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams

Here is a little taste of the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams pieces we have in store... Pop in and see for yourself - this line has it all! Good looks, great comfort, and good pricing! The Chester Sofa - I love this sofa. It says, "I'm here to stay. I could have been my Grandfather's sofa. I make decisions with staying power. I am a classic." You can see we've paired it with a graphic rug and an ottoman upholstered with an antique sari - still doesn't throw it off it's mojo. Chester keeps himself grounded and adds a class to any room.

The Keaton Sofa - We made this beauty up in a natural linen. With those feather down cushions - this sofa is as comfortable as it is gorgeous. I love the tailored image it puts off, a tuxedo sofa all buttoned up with nailhead trim - but the cushions are sofa and forgiving. You'd want to park the Keaton in your living room because it looks so great - but we are using it in family rooms for it's comfort. Plus, it keeps the room looking great!

Marlena Chairs - Graceful curves, swoopy arms, perfect pitch to the back. Dressed beautifully in Oyster linen. These would be beautiful in a master suite sitting area or a living room. I'd even put them in a family room!

This Lil' Loveseat - "Odette" - has to be one of the most versatile pieces one can add to their collection! We are putting loveseats in kitchens these days! My mother has one, I have one, our clients have them. You can put them in any room of the house! Think of it. Entry hall, end of a bed... the possibilities are endless.

Celina Bed - Graceful and classic. It's the perfect bed for a masculine or feminine space which make it ideal for a master bedroom. We love upholstered beds at Alice Lane! You can sit up and read in bed and visually it just looks more comfortable. And comfortable is what a bedroom should be.

The Hughes collection of casegoods work great in bedrooms, living rooms or even the entry. They are two toned with dark wood frames and white lacquered drawers both inside and out. This keeps a room from getting too dark. The contrast is sharp and stylish!

The Turner Round Side Table - What's not to love? Where wouldn't this go? Not sure how to keep this one humble... So many compliments! Everyone loves this little lacquered personality piece!

Kimora Dining Table - An organic shape, a contemporary finish, and a great price point! Great for entertaining, it seats 8! And there are no breaks in this solid slab. This table adds drama and confidence to any dining space.

Ming Lacquer Chest - We have the walnut (shown) and white on the floor right now. It's the cutest lil' size. It's a go anywhere, get along with anyone piece. Entry, end of hallway, on a stair landing. I'd even go so far as to try it in a powder bath with a big piece of art above it.

We are preparing for another shipment of MGBW and can't wait to share it!

It is a broad line with tons to choose from. Great transitional styling - timeless choices. At MGBW, they are passionate about design just like we are! They have quick lead times - only four weeks to have upholstered pieces made!

These are a few of my favorites:

Beach Ball Pillows

Keaton Sofa - We've got it in linen!

Lawson Chest

James Chair

Turner Side Table - We have this lovely in store!

Carter Leather Chair

Chester Sofa - Stop by and pet him! He's here. Dressed in a delicious charcoal brown velvet!

Duvall Ottoman

Helaine Bed - So classic, you'd swear it's Barbara Barry! Also on our floor!

Stay tuned to see more about this exciting new line.

Private Residence Dining Room

Occasionally we will come across a fabric that we just hold on to until the right client comes along.  It's usually something a little more outlandish, colorful, gutsy and designer than the average Jane would go for but luckily a cute Arizonian came into my life that was born to live with this particular fabric!  Possibly my favorite fabric!  It has everything!  A sorbet of colors that is almost eatable every time I pull it out! As we began to design her family's dining room, it became our window treatments so all could enjoy it top to bottom all day long!
Sadly one of our favorite collections was discontinued BUT we were able to snag the last few dining tables and chairs that they had!  We used the Lily Dining Table in the space with these cutie pie chairs upholstered in a gradient green striped velvet! Sad for the rest of the world, but very exciting for Mrs. Sparks!
This birdy duo from Natural Curiosities sings my heart song!  The colors are perfect and the subject matter is young and playful just like our client's family!
This room has not been completely installed yet but as soon as it does, the world will be a more beautiful place and all who enter will stay for awhile....amidst the fabric that started it all!  Enjoy!

Vanguard at Market

Welcome to the Vanguard showroom at Market. Loving the gray velvet sofa with the pops of orange. It feels very masculine and modern.

These pieces would be perfect for an office or study.

You may remember this photo from our Annie Selke post. Aren't her pieces just a dream?

This chair is oh-so-comfortable! And isn't it pretty in that zebra print linen?

There's that pop of orange again! So happy and bright!

And what a sleek and sophisticated recliner right? Well, guess what! We have this one in the store right now in a lovely gray leather.

The photo of this dining table does not even do it justice! It is huge and so beautiful!

Million Dollar Decorators and Mary McDonald

One of the great quotes from my new favorite TV show, Million Dollar Decorators. If you haven't seen it, well, then you are in luck - You can catch the last episode on Tuesday night on Bravo. It's the finale - so it promises to be a good one.

Aside from the great design work and behind-the-scenes madness that happens in our industry, you will come to know the work of Mary McDonald (Pictured on the far left). She is one of LA's most sought after designers. She's a "more is more" glamour gal and her work is full of vibrato! I totally dig her aesthetic. I haven't met a client yet that would let us do full-tilt Mary McDonald to their home but there are so many things we can take from her work and appreciate!

Notice that navy lamp... We carry that at the store!

A few Mary McDonald signatures:

- Painted wood floors - Graphic Patterns - Symmetry - Bold strokes - Layered, curated accessories - Saturated color combinations - Classically timeless silhouettes - Well-traveled

We carry her line of lamps and sconces introduced at the last market by Robert Abbey. Here are a few of our favorites:

{1. Ondine Wall Sconce - $463 | 2. Annika  Table Lamp - $498 | 3. Directoire Table Lamp - $625 | 4. Spence Wall Sconce - $220 | 5. Leopold Wall Sconce - $700 | 6. Maximillian Table Lamp - $484 | 7. Ondine Table Lamp - $523}

Who is your favorite Million Dollar Decorator???

Welcome to Oly Studio at Market!

Loving the pops of blue! Isn't the Diego console table stunning? We have one at the store and it is even more beautiful in person.

The pops of oranges and yellows with the popcorn pillows and carved mohair giraffe pillow really make these spaces feel warm.

Lilacs are lovely, soft and feminine. And added into the mix of Oly's furniture makes it all the more gorgeous.

The Cool Tones

Loving these bold and tropical colors in the cooler tones. The bold colors provide a spark of excitement but the calming cool tones bring a relaxing feeling to the room as well.
